Sunday, 21 September at 3.00 pm Sunrise String Quartet comprises four young professional musicians who share a passion for the disciplined, yet rewarding, medium of the string quartet. The quartet hopes to establish itself as a dynamic musical presence continuing its musical journey with further study, concert opportunities and competitions both in Australia and abroad. They will be performing quartets by Dvorak & Haydn. Sunday, 12 October at 3.00 pm The Song Company is Australia's only full-time professional a cappella ensemble. Since 1984 it has built up an enviable reputation for its versatility and freshness of sound, repertoire and presentation as well as its remarkable standard in concerts, broadcasts and recordings. Directed by Roland Peelman since 1990, The Song Company believes in the power of the human voice in all its expressions. The unique and eclectic repertoire of old and new music from ‘pops’ to contemporary Australian compositions, including several music-theatre works such as the 2003 ‘Venetian Carnival’, and the 2007 production of the Mediaeval Easter Mystery Play Visitatio all bear testimony to that simple vision. Leichhardt Espresso Chorus is a non-auditioned choir from Sydney’s inner west.
They are comprised of a vibrant,
enthusiastic group who love to sing and give performances with
caffeine fuelled energy! The chorus is committed to innovation and
excellence, proudly supporting the commissioning of new Australian
choral works.
For their concert at Hunter Baillie LEC, in the words of Music
Director Michelle Leonard, will sing "something old, something new,
something borrowed, something blue!" In other word, popular
repertoire both traditional and contemporary including well-known
carols with with accompaniment by the Hunter Baillie organ.
